ActiveWorlds - Creation in the making Current mood: chipper Category: Art and Photography
I find this program is very interesting. it is called ActiveWorlds www.activeworlds.com
Now to fully understand why I am posting this, you must understand that my computer is my hobby, in part and in whole. with the exception of watching good movies, biographies or wildlife programs, you can throw my tv out as I find most of it very boring. therefore, I go to my computer for enjoyment.
I don't have a wife or children, no family at all, much to my displeasure. There is only me, & of course my siblings who are all married and have a life of their own far from where I live. So I turn to my computer and my enjoyments on it which are mainly creating stationery for Outlook Express (I have over 300 stationery pages) Just ask me for one and I will happily send it to you. I have one rule though. you must not change it at all, but use it as is. Of course, they are used for sending email to your family and friends, but you must use Outlook Express for them to work properly. My stationery is set to very nice music and has colorful backgrounds and various photos inset, such as wildlife, scenery etc. I hope to start my own stationery website when I find a good web provider & tutor to help me build it. If any of you know of a good one in the USA or Canada, please let me know. I can also create personal stationery for you, if you provide me with a photo via email. If you have a nice scenic photo you would like made into stationery, send it to me and I will see what I can do with it, and of course I will give you credit for the photo work but it must be your own photowork. I also enjoy browsing MySpace, a lot. and then there is my favorite pastime. ActiveWorlds.
This is a creation and chat program where you can view and build anything you like and chat with friends, all in 3D (3 dimensional) it is an excellant program if you like to create. I have been an AW citizen for over ten years now. I have many city builds, parks highways, and other sites as well. To date I have built well over a million objects in ActiveWorlds. If you like to create your own world, this is the best, bar none. I have tried other 3D programs but I always stick with AW as I find it is the best one out there.
Originally, an actor friend of mine introduced me to AW and I have been there ever since. You must download the program first before you can enter it. it is a short download and is totally virus free. Once downloaded, you enter as a tourist at awgate which is the first world you enter when opening the active worlds program, from there you can browse various worlds or just chat. Active Worlds is a member of the world childfind organization which is one of the original things that grasped my attention when I first saw this program. Myself, I belong to ActiveWorlds for the building end of it and I build quite a bit on a regular basis. I just completed building two very large skyscrapers and am working on my third at the center of one of my cities. I am also putting in an lrt system (light rapid transit). this is a perfect program for architechs as they can design anything in there before actually building it in the real world. If you desire to become a citizen, it costs in the neighborhood of $70.00 per year to be a citizen. The cost varies from country to country, but here in Canada, that is the present yearly cost. For all you who like to build your own fantasy world or just plain chat, this is the ultimate place to be. AW has citizens from all over the world who have built their worlds and cities too look like their own countries. You can chat with people from almost any country in the world or visit their cities and builds. Of course you do not have to become a citizen. You can remain a tourist and it costs you nothing to enter or use the program, but being a tourist you are limited to the worlds you can visit and you are limited to where you can build. In order to have your own build land where no one can remove what you have built, you must become a citizen. I hope to see you there.
